π†πŽπ•π„π‘ππŽπ‘ π†π„ππ„π‘πŽπ’πŽ, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐑 πŸπŸ‘, πŸπŸŽπŸπŸ’ – The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) Region XI officially handed over a P1.7 million livelihood intervention under the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase 2 to Governor Generoso Federated Fisherfolk Association (GFFA) of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.

The initiative encompasses the provision of essential resources, including fifteen (15) units of Fish Aggregating Devices (FAD), commonly known as “Payao,” and two (2) units of Gill Nets. By equipping the GFFA with these tools, the program seeks to enhance their productivity while fostering sustainable fishing practices. Moreover, this assistance is strategically aligned with the goals of the DA’s flagship program, meant to empower beneficiaries in their transition towards establishing community-based fishery enterprises.

Emphasizing the importance of this endeavor, BFAR XI Officer-in-Charge, Regional Director Relly B. Garcia, stressed, β€œIto ay ilan lamang sa mga mahahalagang proyekto ng ating pamahalaan upang matulungan na maiahon ang mga mangingisda at magsasaka na may malaking kontribusyon sa Lipunan.” Director Garcia’s message, conveyed by the SAAD Regional Alternate Focal, Sharon M. Baidiango highlighting the government’s commitment to uplifting the livelihoods of fisherfolk and farmers who play a pivotal role in societal progress.

The recent event was attended by esteemed guests and stakeholders, including Municipal Mayor Juanito C. Inojales, Municipal Councilor Lito M. Tanduyan, DA-BFAR SAAD Regional Assistant Alternate Focal Maricel P. Antiga, Municipal Agriculture Officer Narciso Roscom, Provincial Fishery Officer Jefferson L. Montera, as well as representatives from local government units (LGUs) and Provincial Agricultural Office (PAGRO), Municipal Fisheries Law Enforcement Team (MFLET), and others.
