Compared to last year in which the spawning began in late March, the beginning of this year’s spawning is notably earlier. This could be attributed to the warm water temperatures experienced in recent days.
Servicing eight municipalities in the region, and providing sustenance and livelihood to several communities, the Central Bangus Hatchery emerges as the top producer of bangus egg, larvae, and fry within the BFAR Regional Offices nationwide, according to officer-in-charge Conrado Toston. Such distinction highlights not only the hatchery’s local significance, but also its impact and potential as a central player in propelling the local fisheries industry in the country.
