The training workshop aims to assist the NTWG develop the NPOA and implement the SSF Guidelines through several activities and workshops.
 

Ms. Rebeca Andong, Fisheries Specialist and SSF Project Coordinator and Mr. Len Garces, Consultant of FAO Philippines, led the presentation of the project overview and guidelines, issues, opportunities and plan on the implementation of the action plan for small-scale fisheries.
 
The two-day workshop is part of the process of developing the draft NPOA-SSF of the Philippines, which will outline strategies to enhance the socio-economic conditions and formulate policies and legal frameworks concerning small-scale fishers and the factors that affect their livelihood.
 
As a result, participants and other members of the multi-sectoral NTWG composed of representatives from national government agencies, the academe/research, non-governmental organizations, people’s organizations, local government units, and fisherfolk groups were able to discuss and present the NPOA-SSF goals and logframe of the action plan through the visioning exercise and plenary discussions.
 
These collaborative efforts reflect a pivotal step towards the advancement of small-scale fisheries and signifies a shared commitment to improving the lives of the fisherfolk in the country.
