Today, the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) joins the nation in celebrating this year’s #WorldWaterDay which aims to raise awareness and inspires action to solve the global water and sanitation crisis.
Focusing on the theme “Be the change”, World Water Day encourages people to take action to change the way they use, consume and manage water resources and support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.
In the fisheries, water is a precious resource. On it depends the health and integrity of our fisheries and aquatic resources, fuel to a vibrant fisheries industry supporting more than two million registered Filipino fisherfolk.
Hence, let us all do our part in protecting our water resources and accelerate change to ensure the sustainable management of water for all.
