“The Local Government of Bantayan, Cebu successfully rescued a stranded male spinner dolphin at the vicinity waters of Barangay Tamiao, Bantayan, Cebu yesterday, February 13.
A certain Francisco Delapeña, barangay captain reported the incident at the local government of Bantayan informing that a dolphin was sighted and was believed to be stranded.
Subsequently, Eugene Abria of Risk Mangement Unit together with Julius Salvado of Municipal Agriculture Office conducted rescue operation and positively confirmed the incident.
Salvado said that the dolphin was allegedly stranded because the area is a culture site for seaweeds production where small fishes dwell and this might have caught its attention. But before the creature was released they let it to acclimatize and allowed it to freely swim in the open ocean, he added.”
