NEWS RELEASE | Pinabacdao Fisherfolk Thrives with 361 kg of Grouper Harvest

SAMAR, January 27, 2025 – The Brgy. 2 Poblacion Farmers and Fisherfolk Association earned Php108,300 from harvesting 361 kg of groupers on January 22, 2025. This was part of the Grouper in Bamboo Cage project under the BFAR-SAAD Phase 2 program.

In 2023, the association received Php 400,350 worth of support, including fingerlings, aquaculture materials, and training. Provincial Fishery Officer Marlon Sale said the program aims to improve aquaculture production and provide livelihoods for fisherfolk in Samar.

This year, 24 fisherfolk associations from Samar’s poorest municipalities will benefit from Php12.9 million in additional BFAR-SAAD projects to further boost the fishery sector.
