100 fisherfolk receive relief distribution during BFAR-10 and PCG seaborne operations
Seaborne operations are regularly conducted by the BFAR-10 Fisheries Resource and Protection Group, in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard, to protect our fisheries resources from illegal fishing activities, and to monitor fishing operations all over Region 10.
However, a different seaborne operation was conducted on May 19, 2020.
Some 100 fisherfolk from Iligan City and Linamon, Lanao del Norte were surprised when they were approached by multi-mission boats of PCG and FRPG, and after clearing them of possible violations, were handed over with relief packs, while fishing along the municipal waters of Iligan City and Linamon, LDN.
The packs contain three kilograms of rice, six (6) pieces of canned goods, three (3) packs of noodles, one (1) pack biscuit and one 25g coffee pack.
Inspired with the nation’s call for unity and solidarity especially in these difficult times where a health crisis has affected not only our country but the whole world, the “Heal as One” theme inspired our fishery law enforcers and extended their assistance to stakeholders to somehow ease their difficulties amid the COVID-19 crisis.
To all our farmers and fisherfolk, we salute you!
