BFAR 12 FRPG team conducts Anti-Illegal Fishing Operations through Seaborne Patrol on May 14, 2020 in Sarangani Bay to closely monitor fishing activities and sustain the Bureau’s commitment to eliminate and deter Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUUF) activities.
The team boarded a total of five municipal fishing boats and commercial fishing vessels: 1) F/B Lady of Good Deliverance (Tuna Handline), 2.) F/V Louie-14 (carrier), 3. M/Bca Rufa Mae, 4) M/Bca King James Service 04, and 5) M/Bca Green Mami Sta. Lucia. These fishing vessels were compliant to existing laws and regulations.
The Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape (SBPS) is a protected area established under RA 7586 as amended by RA 11038. It is frequently patrolled by BFAR and other maritime law enforcement agencies in order to prevent illegal fishing and environmental damage.
