BFAR 12-FRPG Continues its Operations against IUUF
BFAR 12 FRPG conducts land-based inspection to verify that fishing operators and fishery product traders abide with the existing laws and regulations implemented against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUUF) operations in the coastal areas in region 12.
Based on FRPG monitoring, April 30- May 12, 2020, the group reported a total of 34 fishing vessels and 20 markets that were inspected in the Port areas of PFDA, Fishport Complex, Tambler, General Santos City.
On May 6, 2020, the FRPG team found out during a port inspection that a vessel named F/B Kurt was not compliant, as the vessel operator failed to present a Certificate of Clearance (COC) or a valid Commercial Fishing Vessel and Gear License (CFVGL). The vessel owned by Alex Monte de Ramos has an expired CFVGL with validity date September 14, 2017. Hence, the vessel operator of F/B Kurt was accosted and issued a Notice of Non-Compliance. Moreover, the operator was advised to secure proper documents prior his next fishing trip.
Out of the 34 inspected vessels, one vessel found to be Non-Compliant and no illegally caught fish nor imported fishery products were found during the time of inspections.
