COLO DAM RECEIVES FINGERLING BOOST
Dinalupihan, Bataan – BFAR Central Luzon carries on with its goal to improve fish production as it provides 5,000 common carp and 100,000 GET EXCEL tilapia fingerlings to Colo Dam earlier today, May 7, through its Provincial Fisheries Office and Dispersal Unit. Fish farmers in the community also benefited from the activity and went home with 9,000 red tilapia input assistance.
The productivity of man-made water bodies, at certain times, tend to demand manipulation to be able to support artisanal fishery. This is when BFAR steps up to help sustain and develop its output efficiency through regular stock enhancement.
The activity was made possible with the assistance of the provincial government. The BFAR3 Technological Outreach Station for Fresh Water (TOSFW) extended a helping hand as well and worked double time in the face of the pandemic threat to nurse the fingerlings sourced from BFAR-NFFTC, collect, pack and load them ready for the distribution.
