Iligan City Markets inspected during market denial operations
The BFAR-10 Fisheries Resource Protection Group, together with DA Iligan City, inspected fish stalls in Tambacan and Tambo wet markets in Iligan City on May 7, 2020, as part of the regular market denial operations conducted throughout the region.
About 15 fish stalls in Tambo and 10 in Tambacan were found to be in compliance with the existing laws and regulations imposed under RA 8550 as amended by RA 10654.
IEC on Sec. 126 or the possessing, dealing in or disposing illegally caught or taken fish by means of explosive and CITES listed was conducted to the fish vendors as part of the information campaign against illegal fishing.
Continued surveillance operations have been done to ensure that the country’s fishery resources are not being exploited, illegal fishing activities be apprehended, and management measures are strictly observed.
