BFAR 10 conducts joint mobile fishery checkpoint at Kauswagan, LDN
Members of the BFAR-10 Fisheries Resource Protection Group and Inspection and Quarantine Services, in coordination with the PNP-Kauswagan, inspected fish carriers travelling along Kauswagan National Highway, Lanao del Norte on April 30 to May 1, 2020.
A total of eight fish carriers, who were travelling from Zamboanga City and bound for Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon, and Surigao, were inspected by the joint operation. All fish carriers had all the necessary documents required in observance of the general community quarantine guidelines set by the province.
IEC on Sec. 126 of RA 10654 or the “possessing, dealing in or disposing illegally caught or taken fish by means of explosives and CITES listed” was also conducted as part of the information drive for all stakeholders.
Law enforcement efforts have been intensified to curb the spread of illegal fishing while also maintaining smooth and unhampered delivery of fishery products all throughout the entire region.
