COMMUNAL DISPERSAL CONDUCTED IN NUEVA ECIJA
The Small Water Impounding Projects (SWIPs) in Pantabangan Dam and Sta Rosa, Nueva Ecija received a total of 40,000 Carp and 350,000 GET EXCEL Tilapia fingerlings today, April 23, from BFAR Central Luzon through separate dispersal activities conducted by the Provincial Fisheries Office and the Fingerlings Dispersal Unit.
The man-made impoundments were primarily built for rain water storage but also provides for more than 700 fisherfolk in the communities because Carp and Tilapia thrive in the waters. The activity was conducted to repopulate both species and improve the productivity of the reservoirs. (photos by PFO Nueva Ecija & Dispersal Team)
