SEAFOOD KADIWA ON WHEELS reaches out to Catarman’s upland barangays
To provide food especially to barangays that are hard to reach, BFAR-10 thru the PFO-Camiguin conducted its Seafood Kadiwa on Wheels to the upland barangays of the Municipality of Catarman, Camiguin on April 20, 2020.
Residents of Barangays Bura, Poblacion, and Mainit were able to buy their fresh fish products, such as flying fish (barungoy) and green mussels (tahong) right at their doorstep at a very affordable price.
“Reach the barangays with limited supply of marine fish products,” said Catarman Mayor Kitero Antonio U. Palarca II, who vocally supported the initiative.
Some 70kgs of barungoy and 30kgs of tahong were brought to the mobile market, which catered 61 residents. The products were sold at 80/kg and 70/kg, respectively.
The Kadiwa on Wheels aims to provide fresh and affordable food to the consumers, while also helping our local farmers sell their produce amid the COVID-19 crisis being faced by the whole country.
