300,000 Tilapia Fingerlings seeded in Pulangui Lake
As part of the BFAR's efforts in restoring the bounty of fishery resources in the country's inland bodies of water, some 200,000 tilapia fingerlings in Brgy. Dologon, Maramag and 300,000 in Quezon, Bukidnon have been dispersed on April 2 and 3, respectively.
The dispersal is part of BFAR's Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa" Project.
Under the scope of National Inland fisheries Enhancement Program (NIFEP) being implemented by Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, BASIL which stands for “Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa” aims to restore the productive condition of the freshwater resources, enhance their fisheries, repopulate indigenous species and improve the lives of the fisherfolk within the Region.
One of the main components of BASIL Project is Fisheries Enhancement wherein fish fingerlings stocks from BFAR aquaculture facilities are dispersed in key areas, one of which is the Pulangui Lake in the Province of Bukidnon
