Armed with the courage and determination to be the next Fisheries Scholarship Program (FSP) grantees of the Bureau, 71 Senior High School graduating students from the provinces of Leyte, Eastern Samar and Northern Samar took the National Competitive Examination for the Fisheries Scholarship program earlier at the designated Provincial Testing Centers.
A total of 60 hopeful students took the examination under the Fisherfolk Children Education Grant (FCEG) while 11 top-ranked Senior High School students sought to get the Fisheries Industry Leaders Grant (FILG).
Out of these test takers in the region, 30 students will be granted with a scholarship under the FCEG while three (3) slots will be given for the FILG.
Qualified FSP scholars will be receiving several privileges such as: free tuition; Php5,000 monthly stipend; Php2,000 book allowance per semester; Php3,000 Practicum support; Php7, 000 Thesis support, and; Php1,500 graduation support.
BFAR 8 regional and Provincial Heads and staff served as proctors and ensured that essential standard health protocols were strictly observed during the examination.
