The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 3 (BFAR3) headed by Regional Director Wilfredo M. Cruz in coordination with Municipal Agricultural Office (MAO) of Floridablanca represented by MAO Myrna M. De Vera and Civil-Military Operations, 5th Fighter Wing, BASA Air Base headed by Chief - Civil Affairs Richard T. Dilag conducted Training on Gillnet Mending and Orientation on Fisheries Code Republic Act (RA) 8550 as amended by RA 10654 on Thursday August 13 at Brgy Mawacat, Floridablanca, Pampanga for Indigenous Peoples (IP).The participants also received gillnets from BFAR. Mr. Joseph Bitara and Mr. Ace Artagame both BFAR staff served as trainers. Also, earlier that day BFAR team thru its Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa (BASIL) program dispersed 32,000 pieces of tilapia and ayungin fingerlings and ulang fry in Palakol and South Gumain Rivers. There are about 1,961 IP families in Floridablanca who mainly depend on farming and fishing as source of livelihood.
