BFAR PROVIDES FISHING GEARS, PARAPHERNALIA AND EQUIPMENTS TO SULTAN KUDARAT FISHERFOLK
DA-BFAR 12, headed by Usop D. Pendaliday, Jr. through the Provincial Fisheries Office of Sultan Kudarat headed by Jeffrey Nuñez, distributed fishing gears, paraphernalia and equipment to fisherfolk from the municipalities of Lebak, Kalamansig, Lambayong and Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat Province.
The Municipalities of Lebak, Kalamansig and Palimbang each received 100 sets of fishing gears and paraphernalia for tuna handline fishermen. Each set contains a tuna handline, squid jiggers and a Multiple Hook & Line fishing gear. Also, 160 units of Fish traps or Balyat were given to the Lambayong Fishermen Association and 200 units of Crab Pots were distributed to the fisherfolk of Sitio Kariguir, Brgy. Tran, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat. Further, certificate of commitment of two (2) units Fish Corral and two (2) units Fish Aggregating Device were turned-over to the Local Government of Palimbang.
Under the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) program, CErtificcate of Commitment of one (1) unit Ice Block Maker Machine and Cold Storage Equipment was turned-over to Palimbang United Fishermen Association.
The distribution was conducted with the participation of the representatives of the concerned Local Government Units on May 28 at Lebak; May 29 at Kalamansig, June 2 at Lambayong and on June 4 at Palimbang. The representatives of the municipalities are the following: Jaybee C. Bernales - Municipality of Lebak; Vice-Mayor Joaquin Concha - Municipality of Kalamansig; Ulysses Tadiaman, Muncipal Agriculturist/Municipal Agriculture Officer - Muncipality of Lamabyong; and Mark Siokon, Sangguniang Bayan Committee Chairman on Agriculture and Fisheries – Municpality of Palimbang.
OIC-Regional Director Usop D. Pendaliday, Jr. pushed for the speedy procurement and distribution of the fishing gears to ensure that fisherfolks receive ample livelihood assistance during this COVID 19 crisis.
