BFAR 12 Regulatory and Licensing Section Serves the Fishing Industry Throughout the COVID 19 Pandemic
Throughout the COVID pandemic spanning three months and counting, the Regulatory and Licensing Section (RLS) continued delivering its services to the fishing industry. In the period from March up to May 2020, it processed sixty-four (64) applications for renewal of Commercial Fishing Vessel License and accepted eleven (11) applications for New Commercial Fishing Vessel License. In the same period, it also issued one thousand and fifty-six (1,056) Certificates of Clearance (COC) for departing fishing vessels and three thousand one hundred forty-six (3,146) Fishermen’s Licenses (FL).
This is a response to BFAR Director Eduardo Gongona’s directives to ensure BFAR’s continuing support and assistance to the fishing industry in order to ensure sufficient supply of fish and fishery products for the people during the COViD19 crisis.
