CEBU, February 12, 2025 —The Polo Fishermen Association (POFA) harvested 1,496.5 kilograms of bangus (milkfish), generating Php 239,030 in revenue. This marks its third year as a beneficiary of the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program under the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 7.

The harvest was conducted in batches to meet local market demand, event requirements, and bulk buyer agreements, showcasing POFA’s strong market linkages.

4,368 pieces were successfully harvested from their fixed cage culture system, achieving a 62.4% survival rate out of the 7,000 fingerlings stocked. Despite challenges from Typhoon Kristine and subsequent low-pressure areas in 2024, which damaged the net’s bottom portion and affected fish survival, POFA remained resilient.
