SARANGANI PROVINCE, February 4, 2025—The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) XII, through its Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase 2, held a training session on feed formulation and techniques on January 31, 2025, in Brgy. Kihan, Malapatan, Sarangani Province. This initiative was led by the BFAR XII SAAD Provincial Program Management Support Office (PPMSO) of Sarangani, under the direction of Ms. Zenaida A. Dangkalan, and serves as a continuation of the FY 2024 Fisheries Field School.
NAPAC Integrated Farmers Association members were equipped with essential knowledge on feed ingredients, formulation, and storage. They learned how to balance feed diets using the Pearson Square Method, which allowed them to practice and compute feed formulation diets.
Key resource persons included Charlene C. Radin, who led discussions on feed formulation, and Ms. Dangkalan, who facilitated the balancing of feed diets using the Pearson Square Method.
The association’s officers were also present, including President Marlyn Q. Cuales, Vice-President Generose B. Adoy, Secretary Jovelyn T. Yambo, Treasurer Annaliza L. Abdulradzak, and Auditor Letecia A. Teo. “This [training] has not only enhanced our knowledge but has also empowered us to adopt sustainable practices in our aquaculture activities. We commit to applying what we have learned to improve our productivity,” President Cuales stated.
The training is part of BFAR XII SAAD Phase 2’s continued efforts to empower fisherfolk communities through knowledge-sharing initiatives that promote self-sufficiency and improved productivity. The activity ensures local fisherfolk can develop sustainable and cost-efficient feeding strategies for aquaculture ventures.
