#UNFAOMissionToPH | Yesterday, delegates from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN-FAO), officials and personnel of the DA-BFAR, and representatives from national agencies took part in the second day of the three-part consultation as part of the UN-FAO delegates’ two-week mission in the Philippines. Proceedings included a review and discussion of the National Plan of Action to prevent, deter, and eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (NPOA-IUU).
Representatives from the National Coast Watch Council, the Department of Justice’s National Prosecution Service, Philippine National Police – Maritime Group, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine Navy shared their inputs to identify the current needs in technical assistance and trainings to bolster the country’s fisheries and maritime surveillance and enforcement capabilities.
