Officially ended the Technology Business Incubation (TBI) on oyster production on July 31, 2022 in Binmaley and San Fabian, Pangasinan. The project, which started on October 21, 2021 with Php 6,235,606.00 budget, was funded by the DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR).

Dr. Mudjekeewis Santos, scientist IV, delivered a message in behalf of Executive Director Lilian Garcia on July 27 wherein he commended the project team, headed by Dr. Joseph Christopher Rayos and Dr. Mary Nia Santos, for completing the nine-month project. He likewise reiterated the message of President Ferdinand “Bongbong”Marcos in his recent SONA vowing to modernize the Philippine agriculture under the new administration.

“Ang bamboo raft technology ay isang makabagong teknolohiya na makatutulong para lumaki ang produksyon. Ang pagtaas ng produksyon ay makakamit sa pamamagitan ng R&D at ang NFRDI ang nagre-represent sa siyensya” Dr. Santos said.

The TBI project has four beneficiary associations, namely:

1) Maserbiya Pamilyang Pilipino,

2) Samahang Manat Angat sa Lahat of Binmaley,

3) Lupang Pangako Fisherfolk Association Inc., and

4) Small Anchor Fishermen’s Association San Fabian Pangasinan Inc. of San Fabian.

Each association received 20 units of bamboo rafts, 2 nipa huts, spat collectors, dug out boat, balsa, and other materials to start their oyster culture production. The project is expected to boost oyster production and income of beneficiaries and contribute to the oyster industry in the two municipalities.
