COVERAGE AND TARGET AREAS

In order to increase fish production and ensure its long-term sustainability, the Ginintuang Masaganang Ani - Fisheries Program shall implement projects and activities on aquaculture and inland fisheries development and management that will cover 75 provinces nationwide. Major species cultured are milkfish ,shrimp,tilapia and carp. Moreover saline tilapia, mudcrabs, groupers, siganids, etc and environment mangrove-friendly aquaculture systems shall also be promoted.

The Ginintuang Masaganang Ani - Fisheries Program shall promote the policy environment and support facilities to exploit the potential sources of additional production from commercial fisheries In addition, the Program will implement interventions to arrest the continuous decline of fish production from municipal fisheries through resource management and conservation activities in 18 priority bays/gulfs and 33 major inland bodies of water nationwide

The Program will also focus on the reduction of post-harvest losses through the provision of infrastructure, marketing and support facilities as well as the improvement of quality fish and fishery products for international and domestic consumption.
