BFAR Retired and Former Employees Association Held Its 3rd Reunion

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Retired and Former Employees Association (BFARRFEA) held its 3rd reunion last April 25, 2009, at Max’s Restaurant at Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City. It was attended by 61 members and guests. (It will be recalled that BFARRFEA was organized in 2006 by Mr. Rodolfo Pagcatipunan and the late Mrs. Rizalina Legasto. The 1st reunion was held in April 29, 2006 and 2nd on April 26, 2008.)

The Guest Speaker, Director Malcolm I. Sarmiento, Jr. was not able to attend due to previous commitment and was represented by Assistant Director Gil Adora. Three (3) members, namely Mr. & Mrs. Mario de Guzman and Mr. Isidro Pasio, who are long time residents of USA, timed their vacation, to attend the reunion. Everybody was delighted to meet them whom they have not seen for more than 20 years.

With this year reunion theme: “Reminiscing Accomplishments in Fisheries”, Ex- Assistant Director Natividad Lagua and Ex- Regional Director Candido Ramos talked about their respective past activities. Aside from feasting on the food served, a raffle of donated gifts was conducted.

The highlight of the reunion was the awarding of Certificate of Recognition to five (5) members, for their valuable contribution to the advancement of Fishery Industry in the country and for their extensive, dedicated and meritorious service in their respective fields, as employee of the BFAR. This year recipients are Ex-Assistant Director Natividad M. Lagua, Ex- Regional Director Candido Ramos, Professor Prudencia Conlu, Mrs. Nenita Deanon and Mrs. Corazon Vidal.

No election was held as the present set of Officers was unanimously voted to continue their term. The Association officers are Mr. Rodolfo Pagcatipunan – President, Mr. Gil Legasto – Vice President, Ms. Rose Calvelo/Mrs.Flor Francisco – Secretaries, Ms. Elvie Simon – Treasurer, Ms. Claudia Sanchez – Muse and Dr. Herminio Rabanal – Adviser.
