BFAR National Director Asis Perez Visits Bicol. A leader, environmentalist, law enforcer and patriot, Atty. Asis G. Perez shows how serious he is in his advocacies by visiting Region-5 last December 20-21, 2011. The Forum on Environmental Laws and Policies Affecting the Fisheries in Legazpi City was his first engagement (top left photo) wherein he discussed the Challenges in Environmental Enforcement to government prosecutors and other law enforcers and gave his words of inspiration and full support in the fishery law enforcement campaign in Bicol. In Masbate City, Dir. Perez together with BFAR Regional Director Dennis del Socorro visited the Provincial Fisheries Office, the City Fish Port and Market (top right photo). A meeting with Governor Rizalina L. Seachon-Lanete and other department heads of the Provincial Local Government Unit of Masbate was also held to tackle the additional livelihood projects for the fisherfolk such as mangrove plantation for aquasilviculture, seaweed farming, installation of land-based hatchery project, and distribution of fishing vessel engines (bottom left photo). They also met with Mayor Socrates Tuason of Masbate City to discuss the future plans of the bureau regarding the integration of fishery law enforcers in the province (bottom right photo). Dir. Perez inspired the BFAR-contracted community organizers of the Integrated Coastal Resources Management Project (ICRMP) in Masbate by announcing upcoming trainings and seminar allotted to them and sharing his experiences regarding organizing and dealing with other people and love for country. Then, Dir. Perez with Dir. del Soccoro and BFAR Provincial Fishery Officer Jess Badillo went to Milagros, Masbate to witness the fishing activity there at night time. JTB
