Can live fish be transported without water?
Yes, it’s not magic but through hibernation. This is what the multi-awarded Filipino Scientist Bonifacio “Boni” Comandante Jr. said of transporting live fishes for many hours without water such as grouper, tiger prawn, shrimps, snapper, seabass, tilapia, pompano, milkfish, shellfish and crabs by using what he calls the “Buhi Waterless Live Fish Transport Technology”. He further said that given the favorable conditions of its environment (which is his trade secret), fishes hibernate or simply “sleeps” and then quickly awakes once brought back to water. (New!) |

PANGISDAAN
SA BAKURAN – Two sets of
the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources’
techno-demo modules of the fish-in-drum pyramid
were installed in Brgy. Paligsahan, Quezon City
, where fish such as dory and hito could be grown
for family consumption. Situating the modules near
a garden serves also as a source for watering and
fertilizer to the plants as the “green water”
in the drum is high in nutrients coming from the
uneaten feeds and fish effluents. Twenty families
were recently awarded one module each of the fish-in-drum
by the BFAR and the QC local government. Included
in the livelihood package are 180 pieces of dory
fingerlings from A & L Fish Hatchery Corp.,
3 months supply of feeds from Vitarich Corporation,
as well as coaching from BFAR, Vitarich and Angel
Multi-purpose Cooperative Inc. |
