DA-BFAR LAUNCHES FISH-YALAN: PANGISDAAN AT PASYALAN ALL-IN-ONE
DA-BFAR’s Fish-Yalan is now open.
The Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) launches today a farm tourism project called Fish-Yalan: Pangisdaan at Pasyalan All-In-One at the National Inland Fisheries Technology Center in Tanay, Rizal.
An innovative approach to promoting environmental protection and sustainable management of fisheries and aquatic resources, DA-BFAR utilized its national fisheries technology centers to transform a portion of their area into an educational, affordable leisure park.
“Fish-Yalan opens the gates of DA-BFAR not only for fisheries stakeholders but also for the general public in order to strengthen awareness on our fisheries resources in a way that is memorable and enjoyable,” DA-BFAR national director Eduardo Gongona said.
Fish-Yalan came about following the passage Republic Act 10816, also known as the “Farm Tourism Development Act of 2016.” It has three (3) major attractions: first, the Audio-Visual Facilities, which include a museum and viewing hall; second, the Techno-Demo Area, which contains the broodstock development area, hatchery, nursery, grow-out techno demo area and fish ponds; and third, the Recreational Area, which are decked with relaxation huts and fish feeding area, a garden and a mini park. Each Fish-Yalan area in the technology centers will have its own flagship species to promote, Gongona said.
Aside from Fish-Yalan, the Bureau also unveils its Philippine Seafood Advertisement campaign, which will run with the catchphrase, “Discover Philippine Seafood: From Our Seas To Your Plate.”
“The Ad campaign is a concept of DA Secretary Emmanuel “Manny” Piñol designed to inspire a variety of options for people who simply seek for a Philippine seafood treat or invest in fisheries-based business in the country,” Gongona said. The advertisements will be placed in local and international airports and ports frequented by both local and foreign tourists.
The two-fold event’s guest list includes Department of Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo, Secretary Manny Piñol, fisheries stakeholders, local government officials, and representatives from partner agencies are expected to join the event.
